Ukraine has sharply increased its egg exports and generated record revenue
In the first four months of 2026, Ukraine significantly increased its egg exports, reaching a five-year high. Shipments grew both in volume and in revenue, with revenue rising much faster than volume. This was reported by the Ukrainian Poultry Farmers’ Union.
Ukrainian egg producers exported 785.2 million eggs from January to April 2026, generating $88.6 million in foreign exchange revenue for the country. Compared to the same period last year, shipment volumes increased by 22%, while revenue in dollar terms jumped by 72%, indicating a significant increase in demand and more favorable prices in foreign markets.
In April 2026, exports totaled 205.7 million eggs worth $22.6 million, slightly less than in March but significantly more than in April of last year, when the increase in physical volume reached nearly 40% and revenue grew by 60%. March was the strongest month of the year, with exports reaching 216.2 million eggs worth $24 million, marking the highest result in the past five years.
“The European Union remains the main market for Ukrainian producers,” notes the Ukrainian Poultry Farmers’ Union, emphasizing that EU countries account for about 74% of all egg exports.
Among the key importers of Ukrainian products are Spain, which accounts for 27.4% of purchases, the United Kingdom with a 14.2% share, Poland with 10.6%, and Israel, which accounts for another 7.7% of exports.
Thus, the Ukrainian egg sector is demonstrating steady growth, gradually establishing itself in the markets of Europe and the Middle East and increasing its presence in international trade even amid the general volatility of agricultural exports.
