Zelenskyy promoted the head of the State Special Communications Service to the rank of major general
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed an official decree conferring the military rank of major general on Oleksandr Potii, head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
This event coincided with the agency’s professional holiday, which this year marks an important anniversary of its founding.
The corresponding decree No. 420/2026 has already been published and is available for review on the official website of the head of state.
The signing of this document coincides with a significant date, as May 25 is traditionally celebrated in Ukraine as the Day of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
In addition to the annual professional holiday, military personnel and civilian specialists of this agency are celebrating a major anniversary.
“This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the Service,” the statement notes on the occasion of the commemorative events and state awards.
Newly promoted Major General Oleksandr Potii was born on April 29, 1971, in Kryvyi Rih, where he spent his childhood and teenage years.
He is an experienced specialist in the field of cybersecurity and the protection of government communications.
For four years, specifically from 2020 to 2024, the officer successfully served as Deputy Head of the State Special Communications Service, overseeing key technical areas.
