Bread prices are set to rise sharply in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the cost of bread and baked goods could rise by an average of 25%by the end of 2026.

This was announced by Denis Marchuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, on the Den.LIVE television channel.

The main factors behind this jump are regular monthly price hikes and a significant increase in production costs for baking companies.

The industry analyst described in detail the current dynamics of price changes in the market, which have been observed since the start of the current spring-summer season.

“By the end of 2026, we will see bread prices rise by an average of 25%; since the beginning of 2026, monthly price increases have ranged between 1.5% and 2%,” Marchuk said.

According to the expert, the main factor influencing the cost of bread is not the price of grain, but associated production costs.

The cost structure of this popular food product shows that wheat accounts for only 20–25% of the total cost.

All other costs are attributed to energy consumption, complex internal logistics, and staff wages.

Amid a full-scale war, these components have become significantly more expensive, and the currency factor has an additional negative impact due to imported equipment and materials purchased in euros and dollars.

As a reminder, Ukraine has seen unexpected changes in the vegetable and fruit-and-berry markets.

Prices for meat and eggs have also jumped by a third over the past year.
