Ukraine has not detected any strike forces on the border with Belarus, but the threat remains — State Border Guard Service

Ukraine has not yet detected any build-up of strike forces along the border with Belarus, but the threat from that direction remains a concern.

This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during a televised marathon.

According to Demchenko, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Belarus has continued to create conditions that Russia could use to conduct military operations against Ukraine.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian side must be prepared for any scenario:

“We must understand that the threat emanating from Belarusian territory remains unchanged. From the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Belarus has been facilitating Russia’s military operations against our state—in 2022, it opened its border, has been providing its territory for military exercises and the training of Russian troops all this time, and has been conducting joint exercises. Therefore... we must be prepared for any developments in this direction and, first and foremost, maintain our own strong defensive positions along the entire length of the border with Belarus,” Demchenko said.

The State Border Guard Service spokesperson noted that there is currently no buildup of Russian or Belarusian forces that could pose a threat of invasion.

At the same time, Belarusian units remain near the border, but their numbers have not changed significantly:

“As for any aggressive actions involving the buildup of units—whether by the Belarusian army or Russia deploying its units to Belarusian territory—fortunately, nothing of the sort has been recorded,” he emphasized.

Ukrainian border guards continue to monitor the situation in Belarus to respond promptly in case of changes or potential threats.

No buildup of equipment, weapons, or personnel that could indicate preparations for an offensive is currently being observed on the border between Ukraine and Belarus.

The Joint Operations Center identified three main objectives of the Russian and Belarusian nuclear exercises.
