Ukraine hopes to open all negotiation chapters with the EU in 2026 — Kachka

Ukraine hopes that the European Union will open all six negotiation chapters on the country’s accession as early as this year, and also anticipates that at least one of them could be closed by the end of the year.

This was stated by Taras Kachka, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

“We are at a pivotal moment in the accession negotiations, so I hope that this year you will open the clusters, and perhaps, who knows, we may even close at least one of them by the end of this year,” he said during the Ukraine-EU Business Summit in Brussels.

According to Kachka, such a development would send an important signal for Ukraine’s continued progress toward membership. “If that happens, we will definitely be on the right track toward full accession,” the official emphasized.

He stressed that accession to the European Union remains a key priority for Ukraine.

Kachka also noted that the parties are currently discussing various integration models. At the same time, EU member states have already provided Ukraine with all the necessary criteria for negotiations across six clusters, covering 34 chapters and 145 requirements.

In response, Ukraine has approved a National Program that includes approximately 1,800 measures to meet these criteria and continue progress toward EU membership.
