Ukraine is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the shelling of Kyiv

Ukraine is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and is taking appropriate steps within the OSCE, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO in response to Russia’s latest wave of massive attacks.

Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and other cities have come under enemy fire, resulting in civilian casualties and the destruction of historical heritage sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site—the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga noted that rescuers were also killed during a cynical follow-up strike on the site of the attack. According to him, by destroying cultural and religious sites, Russia demonstrates complete disregard for international law and the UN Charter. The Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of a strong and united international response to increase pressure on the aggressor and thanked partners for their solidarity and support for Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the capital, as a result of a massive attack by the Russian Federation, the number of casualties has risen to 38 people, including 18 men and women, as well as two children. According to forensic medical examinations, five people were killed by enemy strikes, one of whom died in the hospital.
