Ukraine and the EU have agreed on steps to reopen the maritime corridor in the Black Sea
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga held talks with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, coordinating joint steps to ensure the stable operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor in the Black Sea.
The parties discussed countering Russia’s attempts to disrupt civilian shipping and ensuring continued supplies of Ukrainian food to global markets, emphasizing that food security must not become a hostage to aggression.
During the conversation, the head of Ukraine’s foreign ministry briefed the European diplomat on the consequences of Russia’s massive attacks and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, particularly to protect against ballistic missiles. In addition, Sibiga and Kallas agreed on steps to impose tougher sanctions against the production of ballistic missiles in Russia and coordinated efforts in the area of food security ahead of the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Leaders’ Week.
