Ukraine and the Croatian organization DOK-ING are strengthening their cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and DOK-ING, a leading Croatian manufacturer of robotic systems, have signed a memorandum of strategic partnership. The signing took place in Switzerland during a seminar on coordinating partners in mine action. The document aims to develop the Ukrainian demining market, introduce innovative robots, and train qualified specialists.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

Currently, 69 DOK-ING machines are already in operation in Ukraine within the State Emergency Service, the State Special Transport Service, and the Armed Forces. The new agreement provides not only for the supply of equipment but also for active localization of production: the Croatian company has already invested in its Ukrainian partner to ensure maintenance, repair, and the production of individual components. Special attention will be paid to the demining of forest areas and fire risk management in contaminated territories.

Deputy Minister Ihor Bezkaravayny emphasized that the systematic clearance of land from explosives is a critical prerequisite for economic recovery, particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors. DOK-ING CEO Gordan Pešić emphasized that the company is ready to adapt its 30 years of demining experience in Croatia to the large-scale challenges currently facing Ukraine. The cooperation will also include the free transfer of certain technologies to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities. These joint efforts will help accelerate the return of land to agricultural use and ensure the safety of communities.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy proposed creating a separate state agency to handle humanitarian demining issues in Ukraine.

As previously reported, up to 250,000 square kilometers in Ukraine may be mined—an area larger than the United Kingdom. At least $400 million is needed for demining this year.
