The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has confirmed that jelly candies from the Netherlands are unsafe

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has issued a warning regarding the presence of the psychoactive substance delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ⁹-THC) in jelly candies exported to Ukraine. 

The agency reported the dangerous discovery via the RASFF rapid alert system, citing data from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. The supplier of the products is the Dutch company Multitrance/G-Trading BV, and the recipient in Ukraine is listed as the website UATRAVA.NET.

Agency specialists have already begun inspecting supply chains to immediately remove the dangerous product from circulation. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is an active component of cannabis that affects the central nervous system, causing altered consciousness and impaired coordination. Local authorities have been instructed to take measures to identify all market operators who may have received this batch of sweets.

Citizens are advised to be particularly vigilant when ordering food products online and to carefully verify the origin of goods. If suspicious candies are found on sale, it is necessary to immediately contact local consumer protection agencies. Work is currently underway to identify all retail outlets where these products may have appeared, in order to prevent cases of poisoning or psychoactive effects on consumers.

Chewy candies containing the narcotic substance delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were discovered in stores in the Khmelnytskyi region. These are products imported from the Netherlands. During inspections, THC—a psychoactive substance found in cannabis that has a narcotic effect—was detected in the jelly candies.
