Umerov complained about scammers who are sending fake messages to partners

Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, has announced the start of a new wave of coordinated fraudulent activities, in which unknown individuals are contacting Ukraine’s international partners while misusing his name.

Umerov reported this on Telegram.

According to the head of the NSDC, this time the main targets of the perpetrators are representatives of the Baltic states. The scammers are sending fake scam messages and making suspicious inquiries, attempting in this way to establish communication with foreign diplomats and extract classified or sensitive information from them.

Rustem Umerov issued an official warning and clearly emphasized that any working interaction, diplomatic contacts, or official requests from the NSDC are conducted exclusively through verified government communication channels. The NSDC Secretary urged foreign colleagues to be as vigilant as possible, strictly adhere to information security protocols, and verify any suspicious emails or calls. In the event of receiving such fake communications, partners are asked to immediately contact the NSDC Secretariat of Ukraine for an urgent check and verification.

On March 25, Umerov had already reported that unknown individuals have recently been calling international partners and members of the diplomatic corps, identifying themselves as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

As a reminder, Russian pranksters called Merkel, posing as Poroshenko.

Also, well-known Putin pranksters nicknamed Vovan and Lexus called Polish President Andrzej Duda, posing as French leader Emmanuel Macron.
