Ukraine has successfully tested a new interceptor against rocket-propelled suicide drones
Successful tests of a new interceptor designed to counter Russian jet-powered drones were conducted in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this following reports from Mykhailo Drapaty, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara.
According to the head of state, an enemy “Shahed” was successfully destroyed during the tests, but experts still need to refine certain aspects of the interceptor’s control system. Work on improving the weapon continues.
The meeting also addressed future military operations and long-range strikes against targets on Russian territory, including the results of the strike on the oil refinery in Syzran. Together with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, the following priority objectives, the necessary resources, and training measures were identified.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that significant results from long-range strikes against Russia’s oil infrastructure—the backbone of its war effort—add the necessary leverage to diplomatic efforts. He noted that Ukraine is ready to take de-escalation steps, but international partners must ensure Russia’s long-term and reliable commitment to implementing measures to safeguard Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Russia is deploying new Geran-5 jet drones capable of speeds up to 600 km/h.
