Ukraine has taken a step toward resuming air service by 2030

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted two important decisions for the development of the country’s civil aviation sector. Specifically, the government approved the Strategy for the Development of Ukraine’s Aviation Industry through 2030, which is intended to serve as the foundation for the resumption of air service.

Strategy for the Development of Ukraine’s Civil Aviation Sector through 2030

It is noted that the document was developed by a working group under the Ministry of Development.

“We all understand the reality the country is facing today. Russia continues its massive attacks, and the security situation does not allow for the resumption of civil aviation flights. That is why opening up the airspace is not on the table right now. It is about responsible planning for the future. The strategy is part of that planning,” Kuleba explained.

Kuleba noted that the document is part of Ukraine’s European integration commitments and the adaptation of the country’s transportation system to EU standards. The document is in line with Ukraine’s National Transportation Strategy and the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

“Among the priorities are the modernization of airports and air navigation infrastructure, Ukraine’s integration into the European airspace, the development of multimodal transport, and the implementation of modern aviation safety standards,” the minister added.

Interagency Coordination Center for Preparing the Resumption of Air Service

“The global civil aviation system is undergoing fundamental changes due to new security challenges. The Coordination Center’s task is to develop a new security architecture for civil aviation and airport operations to reopen airspace. The Coordination Center will ensure cooperation among government agencies, the security and defense sectors, the aviation industry, and other stakeholders,” Kuleba emphasized.

This was announced by Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

The occupiers complain that Ukrainian drones are piercing through the concrete shelters protecting aircraft.

The occupiers launched a massive shelling campaign against four districts in the Kyiv region, causing widespread destruction.

As a reminder, Russia attacked dozens of settlements in the Kherson region over the past 24 hours, resulting in deaths and injuries.

Over the past day, Russian troops shelled 49 settlements in the Sumy region. As a result of the attacks, one person was killed, and four more civilians were wounded.

On the evening of May 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, hitting a high-rise residential building. A woman was killed in the attack, and five other people were wounded.
