A NATO delegation led by Admiral Pierre Vandier visited Ukraine for the first time

Admiral Pierre Vandier, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, arrived in Ukraine to discuss new formats for cooperation.

According to a statement by Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, on March 22, 2026, the parties focused on involving Ukrainian military personnel in future Alliance exercises as a simulated adversary. This decision was made following the successful participation of Ukrainian units, which demonstrated the latest methods of warfare and a significant advantage over Western scenarios.

A separate item on the agenda was the deployment of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Action and Training Center (JATEC), which is entering the final stage of integrating command-and-control systems and analytical capabilities. The high regard for Ukrainian soldiers is based on the results of the Hedgehog exercises in Estonia, where a team of 10 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers simulated the destruction of 17 armored vehicles in half a day and delivered 30 precision strikes against NATO forces. The effectiveness of Ukrainian units and the use of Magura maritime drones are forcing partners to reevaluate outdated doctrines and scale up training programs to account for real-world combat experience against Russia.

Against the backdrop of the delegation’s visit, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues to shift reserve training to Ukraine due to foreign instructors’ disconnect from modern realities.

Ukrainian military personnel will travel to Germany to train one of Europe’s strongest armies on how to fight against Russia.

Ukrainian military pilots are undergoing training in the United Kingdom to become helicopter flight instructors.
