Uman is preparing for the arrival of pilgrims for Rosh Hashanah
On September 11–13, Uman is expecting pilgrims to arrive for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. Local authorities are already coordinating security, medical care, and transportation arrangements, taking into account the conditions of martial law.
In the Cherkasy region, the city of Uman is preparing to welcome pilgrims for Rosh Hashanah on September 11–13. Authorities have already coordinated security measures and are preparing to operate on high alert, according to Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.
“Uman is preparing to welcome pilgrims for Rosh Hashanah. As in previous years, we urge believers to keep in mind that a war, unleashed by Russia, is currently underway in Ukraine,” Taburets stated on social media.
This year, Rosh Hashanah will take place from September 11 to 13.
“Right now, the main priority is practical preparedness. I held a meeting of the relevant commission at the Regional State Administration. We coordinated key tasks: security, law and order, medical care, sanitary measures, transportation, and the operation of checkpoints. All services must be ready to operate in an enhanced mode,” the head of the Regional State Administration emphasized.
According to him, “We are inspecting the infrastructure, mapping out routes, and assigning responsibilities. And, of course, we are adjusting our decisions in accordance with the security situation.”
“An operational headquarters will be set up in Uman. The safety of local residents and pilgrims remains our top priority,” he stressed.
As a reminder, as of September 15, more than 3,000 Hasidim had arrived in Uman. A total of 50,000 pilgrims are expected this year for the celebration of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.
On the eve of the annual Hasidic pilgrimage for Rosh Hashanah, Israel’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, visited Uman. The diplomat donated a water purification system to the local hospital.
Earlier, a delegation from the city of Uman in the Cherkasy region visited Israel, where they discussed the city’s development and Ukrainian-Israeli cooperation.
