Universities to Launch “Zero Course” for NMT Preparation This Winter
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced that universities will now enroll students in a 3–6 month “Zero Course” program designed to prepare them for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT). This initiative is significant for prospective students as it offers comprehensive preparation and could improve their admission prospects.
The “Zero Course” curriculum includes mandatory subjects—Ukrainian language, mathematics, and history of Ukraine—alongside one elective chosen from foreign languages, natural sciences, or literature. Each subject will have 90 classroom hours. The course will be offered both as in-person daytime classes and in a distance learning format. Students who continue their studies at the same university after completing the course can receive up to 15 extra points added to their overall admission score for first-year enrolment. The program is set to start this winter.
This initiative has the potential to reshape the preparation process for entrants and increase their competitiveness in the education market. Universities are preparing to actively recruit applicants to maximize participation.
