The government has simplified vehicle inspections for international carriers

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a decision to simplify technical inspections for international carriers.

From now on, a single technical inspection procedure will be in effect, which will comply with both Ukrainian and international requirements. The changes apply to truck transport under permits issued by the European Conference of Ministers of Transport, which allow for transportation between more than 40 countries.

This was reported with reference to Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

Previously, carriers underwent two separate inspections. Following the government’s decision, there is now only one technical inspection procedure, which simultaneously confirms compliance with both Ukrainian and international requirements.

As the head of the Ministry of Development noted, in recent years, businesses have spent approximately 300 million UAH on duplicative procedures. “We are also opening up the technical inspection market. All accredited entities will be able to issue certificates, not just a single state-owned enterprise. This means competition, lower service costs, and better quality,” he says.

European approaches to technical inspection have also been implemented:

  • a unified classification of defects
  • clear rules for vehicle operation
  • full integration of data into the state system.

The certificate from the European Conference of Ministers of Transport is issued immediately after the technical inspection, without additional procedures. Over 21,000 trucks were submitted for the latest allocation of permits from the European Conference of Ministers of Transport—for them, this decision means a real simplification of operations.
