The government has appointed a person responsible for road repairs in frontline areas

The State Special Transport Service (SSTS) has become the sole contractor for road repair and maintenance work in the combat zone.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

The new mechanism covers territories directly on the front line and within a radius of up to 40 kilometers from it.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the relevant decision to ensure the rapid restoration of logistics routes. The top priority will be routes used by military vehicles and for the evacuation of wounded defenders.

“The government has adopted a decision that will allow work to begin immediately on priority routes—where military personnel are moving, the wounded are being evacuated, and supplies are being delivered,” said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Consolidating procurement functions within a single structure is expected to accelerate procurement processes and the direct execution of work.

Funding for these needs will be provided within the current budget of the State Special Transport Service.

The military leadership is responsible for identifying specific sections requiring immediate intervention by road crews. The General Staff will compile a list of priority sites based on the operational situation at the front.

“The General Staff determines the list and priorities. Work begins immediately after the list is approved and the damage is assessed,” the head of government emphasized during the presentation of the initiative.

This approach will help avoid the bureaucratic delays that previously arose when civilian and military structures worked together.

Now, the State Service for Transport Infrastructure will independently oversee the entire cycle—from inspecting the damaged road surface to completing repairs.

As a reminder, the government has announced when road repairs will be completed.

The Cabinet of Ministers has also funded urgent road repairs, but not all of them.
