In Odessa, the TCC used firearms during the arrest of a soldier in the North-Western Military District

In Odesa, during the arrest of a man wanted for desertion, representatives of the regional recruitment center used a starter pistol.

This was reported by the Odessa Regional Territorial Recruitment Center and Special Forces.

The incident occurred on March 17 during a check of military registration documents. According to the Recruitment Center, the man attempted to flee but was apprehended.

During the arrest, bystanders gathered at the scene and began to obstruct the military’s actions. The Recruitment Center notes that physical force and tear gas were used against their representatives, and attempts were made to block their vehicle.

In response, one of the servicemen fired a warning shot into the air with a starter pistol to stop the conflict and calm the situation.

After that, the detainee was handed over to law enforcement officers.

An internal investigation has been launched into the incident to determine the legality of the use of force.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has integrated the ability to schedule an appointment at territorial recruitment centers directly into the “Reserve+” app. Now, those subject to military service can plan their visit in advance by selecting a convenient date and time with just a few clicks.

The Kyiv Regional Territorial Recruitment Center clarified whether a paper military ID is considered valid. By Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 559 dated May 16, 2024, an electronic military registration document (VRD) was introduced in “Reserve+.”
