Hungary Welcomed the Council's Decision on Crimes Committed by the USSR in Transcarpathia
The Hungarian Parliament welcomed the Verkhovna Rada’s statement condemning the crimes committed by the Soviet military administration in Transcarpathia in 1944–1946.
At the same time, Márton Hajdú, chairman of the Hungarian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, called on Ukraine to fully implement the June agreement on the rights of national minorities as soon as possible.
According to him, this involves ensuring that the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia enjoys linguistic, educational, cultural, and political rights.
Haidu emphasized that Hungary seeks to improve relations with Ukraine but considers the guarantee of the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia a necessary condition for this.
