Ukraine will celebrate Armed Forces Unmanned Systems Day on June 11

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree designating June 11 as the official Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From now on, this date will be celebrated annually as the professional holiday of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has designated June 11 as the Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (USF AFU). It will now be celebrated annually on this date.
The corresponding decree of the head of state No. 485/2026 dated June 10 has been published on the website of the Office of the President.

As explained in the document, it was decided to establish UAF UAS Day in recognition of the role of this branch of the Ukrainian military “in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom, independence, and territorial integrity, and to establish new military traditions.”

This decree by Zelenskyy took effect on the day of its publication, June 10, 2026.

Commenting on the presidential decree, Commander of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Robert (“Madyar”) Brovdi recalled that exactly one year ago, this branch of the military was established.

"It included 12 combat units. 100,000 worms, 350,000 enemy targets. Today is designated as the Day of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the major added in his Telegram post.

On unmanned systems forces 

  • On February 6, 2024, Zelenskyy signed Decree No. 51/2024 “On Building the Capabilities of the Defense Forces,” according to which a separate branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces—the Unmanned Systems Forces—is to be established. The government supported the president’s initiative on May 7 of that year.
  • On June 10, 2024, Vadym Sukharevsky, who had previously served as deputy commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under Oleksandr Syrsky, was appointed commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
  • In August of that year, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the existence of the UAS within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in September, the Verkhovna Rada passed the corresponding bill.
  • In June 2025, Sukharevsky was relieved of his duties as commander of the UAF Unmanned Systems Forces, and Robert (“Madyar”) Brovdi became the new head of this branch of the military.
