Demand for Chinese cars in Ukraine remains steady
Over the past month, Ukrainian citizens purchased 1,252 passenger cars imported from China.
This was officially reported by the industry association “Ukravtoprom” in its latest analytical report.
This figure indicates a minimal decline in demand—only 0.3% less compared to the same period in April 2025.
Analysts noted a clear differentiation within the structure of imported vehicles of Chinese origin.
“Of this total: new vehicles — 1,076 units (+4%); used vehicles — 176 units (-21%),” the organization’s report states.
This indicates that Ukrainians remain interested specifically in new, zero-mileage vehicles.
Significant changes have also occurred in the distribution of preferences regarding internal combustion engine types and alternative power sources.
According to the analysis, the majority of passenger cars from China were electric vehicles—46.1%, although in April 2025 this figure reached a record 82%.
Hybrid cars accounted for 30%, conventional gasoline-powered cars for 19.6%, diesel models for 4.1%, and cars with LPG systems for just 0.2%.
Experts also identified specific brands and models that were in highest demand among Ukrainian buyers.
According to the study, the most popular models of new Chinese-made passenger cars were: BYD Sea Lion 06—102 units, BYD Leopard 3—96 units, BYD Song L—94 units, MG ZS—52 units, and CHERY Tiggo 4—51 units.
