Over the past year, more than 1,900 complaints regarding violations of the right to privacy were recorded in Ukraine

The Office of Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights, has received 1,903 complaints regarding violations of the right to privacy so far this year.

According to the ombudsman, the families of prisoners of war and those missing in action, internally displaced persons, and parents of children are at particular risk.

It is precisely these groups, he said, that are most often targeted by scammers and manipulators who may use personal information for criminal purposes.

Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that the unlawful processing or leakage of personal data can have serious consequences.

“The illegal processing or leakage of personal data can lead to financial loss, kidnapping, blackmail, or other crimes, as well as falling into the hands of the enemy,” the ombudsman’s post states.

Thus, the protection of personal data remains a particularly important issue in wartime, when stolen information can be used not only by fraudsters but also by Russian intelligence agencies.

Dmytro Lubinets reported this on Telegram.

Earlier, Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military-Civilian Administration intended to fabricate criminal proceedings against his regional representative, Andriy Kryuchkov, who had exposed numerous violations by military personnel.

Previously, Lubinets had reported that there were hundreds of hostages at the Berehove Territorial Center for the Displaced.

Following this, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported planned disinformation campaigns against the Ombudsman’s Office and himself personally after violations were uncovered during inspections of the Transitional Control Centers and Joint Forces Operation headquarters in the Zakarpattia region. According to him, instead of rectifying the violations, “activists” began a coordinated effort to discredit the findings of the monitoring visits.
