In Lviv, a man attacked a priest during a church service
On September 20, at around 10:00 a.m., a man attempted to disrupt a church service at one of Lviv’s churches and attacked the priest. He was stopped by the priest and parishioners, who then handed him over to law enforcement. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the man, who has mental health issues, attempted to disrupt the service. The assailant has already been taken to a specialized medical facility, and police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.
As reported on social media, the incident occurred during the morning liturgy at the Church of Sts. Vladimir and Olga of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on Symonenko Street. According to eyewitnesses, the man allegedly had a knife, but worshippers detained him, tied him up, and escorted him out of the church. The priest was not injured in the incident.

Archimandrite Anthony (Dzhezhel), rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the village of Khvorostiv, was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During a document check, it was determined that the priest did not have a deferment from mobilization or a reservation.
SBU officers detained the UOC priest while he was receiving 14,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, in April, the clergyman offered to help a 26-year-old acquaintance subject to military service avoid mobilization through officials at the Vinnytsia Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Military Commissariat.
