Ukraine has called on its allies to create a "railway Ramstein"
Ukraine needs a dedicated international framework to support its railway infrastructure, similar to the Ramstein Agreement for defense, in order to restore depleted resources. Five years of full-scale war and constant attacks by Russia have left the transportation system—which is the primary target of enemy strikes—in a critical condition.
This was stated by Klymush, head of the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine.
The transport network is operating at full capacity, and over the past month, 171 attacks on railway facilities have been recorded, causing a shutdown of some metallurgical facilities in Kryvyi Rih. Due to shelling of power facilities, locomotives, and railcars, certain regions are losing stable logistics. The industry’s financial situation remains difficult, as freight volume is currently 50% lower than pre-invasion levels.
To stabilize the situation, rapid international decisions are needed regarding the prompt supply of equipment and spare parts without lengthy bureaucratic procedures. An effective cooperation model must involve the governments of partner countries, particularly the Baltic states, Eastern Europe, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. Establishing such a partnership is a priority for diplomats, as exports and foreign exchange revenues for the budget depend on the stability of the railway.

In the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone struck a commuter train. No passengers were injured in the attack, but the train driver and his assistant were wounded.
Russia is carrying out targeted attacks on civilian railway facilities, with the main activity recorded in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
