The remains of 1,000 fallen soldiers have been returned to Ukraine

As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies (remains) of 1,000 fallen soldiers have been returned to Ukraine.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Currently, law enforcement investigators, together with expert agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct the necessary examinations to identify the deceased. Once the identities are established, the bodies will be handed over to the families for a dignified burial.

The repatriation efforts were made possible through the joint work of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, agencies dealing with missing persons, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense agencies.

The Ukrainian side also expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance.

On February 26, another repatriation phase took place, during which the bodies of 1,000 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine.

As a reminder, Ukraine handed over 16 Kadyrovites to Russia during the exchange.

Ukraine also returned 157 servicemen home as part of a new exchange with Russia.
