The High Anti-Corruption Court extended the preventive measure against former State Border Service head Deyneka until May 30
The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has ruled to extend the preventive measure imposed on Serhiy Deynets, the former head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Kateryna Shipilova, a spokesperson for the HACC, informed Ukrinform of the court’s decision.
The restrictions will remain in effect until at least May 30, 2026.
The extension of the measure comes amid an ongoing investigation into a high-profile case of systematic bribery within the ranks of the State Border Guard Service.
As a reminder, on January 22, 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) notified Serhiy Deyneka of the charges against him.
According to the investigation, top officials of the agency established a corruption scheme, receiving unlawful benefits for facilitating the unimpeded crossing of the state border, in particular for smuggling contraband.
On January 30, the High Anti-Corruption Court set a bail of 10 million hryvnias for the former head of the State Border Guard Service.
On February 4, the specified amount was paid, allowing the suspect to remain free, though subject to a number of procedural obligations.
Among the restrictions imposed on Serhiy Deyneka are:
- mandatory appearance before the investigator, prosecutor, or court upon first request;
- a ban on leaving Ukraine without special permission;
- surrender of foreign passports for safekeeping;
- refraining from communicating with other individuals involved in the case and witnesses.
As a reminder, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has denied rumors that Deyneka was released due to health reasons.
A bail of 10 million hryvnias has also been set for General Serhiy Deyneko.
Deyneko, the former head of the State Border Guard Service suspected of corruption, was appointed head of a border guard detachment.
The mobilization of former State Border Service head Deyneko followed standard procedure.
