The High Anti-Corruption Court is considering a change to Kropiva's pretrial condition in the Carthage case
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court considered an appeal against the pretrial restraint imposed on Serhiy Kropiva, the former deputy head of one of the departments of the Office of the Prosecutor General, who is a defendant in the “Carthage” case.
At a previous hearing, his defense team requested that the bail be reduced from 120 million hryvnias to 2 million hryvnias. Kropiva stated that he did not have the funds to pay the amount set by the court and denied any attempts to go into hiding. According to him, in early September he was in Lviv on an approved business trip.
The prosecution insists that Kropiva may have been involved in the activities of a network of call centers. The prosecutor noted that in February 2026, the defendants discussed 469 such facilities, and by March, their number had risen to 505. According to the investigation, the estimated fee for “protecting” a single call center was about $7,000 per month, and the total amount could have reached $3.5 million per month.
The SAP also claims that Kropiva instructed members of the criminal organization on how to act in the event of interest from the NABU and on ways to avoid detection. Furthermore, according to the prosecutor, he was in contact not only with the Prosecutor General but also with other officials.
Kropiva himself denies receiving any improper benefits from call centers or the Prosecutor General. He also explained that while in Lviv, he spoke with employees of the regional prosecutor’s office and its head. At the same time, when asked by the judge about the purpose of the business trip and the first and middle names of the head of the prosecutor’s office, he replied that he did not remember.
The day before, Ruslan Kravchenko alleged that pressure was being exerted on members of parliament ahead of the Verkhovna Rada’s vote on his dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General.
As a reminder, the Rada voted to remove Ruslan Kravchenko from the office of Prosecutor General.
Kravchenko presented the tracking information for a mail shipment containing the evidence against Kryvonos.
