Vladimir Voronko, an investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court, denied a motion to impose pretrial detention as a preventive measure against Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, a former member of parliament from the Party of Regions.
This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Action Center.
The Anti-Corruption Center notes that due to this decision, law enforcement agencies cannot initiate the extradition proceedings for Ivanyushchenko, who is currently in Monaco.
Previously, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court had overturned the arrest of the former MP on the grounds that he had not been properly notified of the court hearing.
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has overturned the arrest in absentia of former MP Yuriy Ivanyushchenko. The court concluded that the former MP had not been properly notified of the hearing at which the preventive measure was selected.
