Lawenforcement officials have notified two more military personnel that they are under investigation in a case involving the illegal trafficking of ammunition and explosives, which includes an attempt to sell grenades and plastic explosives worth $88,000.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, members of an organized group were involved in the illegal acquisition of weapons, ammunition, and explosives for the purpose of their subsequent sale. Previously, charges had already been filed against three individuals in this criminal proceeding.
During the investigation, law enforcement established the involvement of two additional military personnel who, according to the investigation, participated in the scheme. Specifically, this involves the acquisition and storage of 500 kg of explosive material in the Kharkiv region, after which the explosives were transferred for transport to Kyiv and subsequent sale.
The new suspects are charged with the illegal handling of ammunition and explosives as part of an organized group.
In addition, one of the previously suspected servicemen faces an additional charge of deserting his military unit during martial law.
The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
As a reminder, in the village of Baryshivka in the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers apprehended a 49-year-old man who was illegally storing ammunition and explosives in his garage.
Earlier, in the town of Storozhynets, Chernivtsi region, a man was detained after throwing a combat grenade at police officers.
