Video: Motorcyclists Were Prevented From Reaching the Summit of Mount Petros

Security personnel at the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve stopped a group of trespassers who were attempting to ride sports motorcycles to the summit of Mount Petros, which is 2,020 meters high. 

On the grounds of the Petros-Hoverla Research Branch, one of the motorcyclists tried to bypass a closed barrier, but the branch’s deputy director blocked his path. After an argument, the violators were forced to turn back.

The reserve emphasized that off-roading encompasses any use of motorized vehicles off public roads and is strictly prohibited in nature conservation areas. Environmentalists stressed that it takes decades for alpine vegetation to recover from vehicle damage, and that engine noise harms wildlife.
