A deferment for parents with multiple children does not always guarantee exemption from mobilization

A deferment for parents with multiple children does not always guarantee exemption from mobilization

Parents with multiple children in Ukraine are entitled to a deferral from mobilization, but this is not automatically granted.

This was reported by attorney Ruslana Slobodyanyuk.

According to her, simply being a father is not enough to qualify for a deferment—you must prove that you are supporting your children and have no outstanding child support payments.

Men raising three or more children are entitled to a deferment under the Mobilization Act. It can be applied for through the “Reserve+” app or at the Administrative Services Center.

However, the deferral may be denied or revoked if there is a child support debt of more than three months or if there is no proof of actual child support payments.

The right to deferment is also lost when one of the children turns 18.

It is separately noted that a stepfather may be eligible for a deferral in the event of the children’s official adoption. If adoption has not taken place, it is necessary to prove that he is providing for the children and that there is no support from the biological father.

On April 21, the Security Service of Ukraine detained military personnel from one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers in Odesa.

It is reported that the detention of the TCC representatives took place on Balkivska Street and involved a chase and gunfire.
