Deferment from mobilization: who will be eligible starting April 1
Updated rules for applying for a deferment from mobilization are now in effect in Ukraine, though the list of grounds for deferment remains unchanged.
You can now apply for a deferment online via the “Reserve+” app or at Administrative Service Centers.
The following individuals are eligible for a deferment:
▪️ men with disabilities or serious health issues
▪️ parents of large families and single parents
▪️ men caring for seriously ill relatives
▪️ students and teachers (under certain conditions)
▪️ essential workers in critical sectors
▪️ relatives of deceased or missing military personnel
▪️ those released from captivity
The deferral may be granted either for a specific period or until the end of martial law.
However, having a deferment does not always grant the right to travel abroad.
As a reminder, mobilization for conscripts aged 50 and older began in Ukraine on December 1, 2025.
Men over 60 who have reached the age limit may serve in the army only on a voluntary basis. The Contract 60+program was created for them. Such individuals may serve in non-combat roles and must meet certain requirements.
