A man who had been on the run from law enforcement for nearly ten years was extradited to Ukraine from Poland. He is suspected of involvement in the illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

The investigation revealed that in 2017, in Cherkasy, the man repeatedly sold amphetamine, cocaine, and the psychotropic substance mCPP, including in particularly large quantities.

Several instances of drug sales have been documented. One of them involved the sale of more than 4,400 tablets containing mCPP, with a total weight of over 71 grams.

Evidence of amphetamine and cocaine sales has also been established.

“One specific incident involved an attempted drug smuggling operation. While outside Ukraine, the suspect sent an international postal package containing tablets with buprenorphine. The package was discovered and seized during a customs inspection,” the OGP reported.

It is noted that after leaving Ukraine, the man went into hiding abroad. Consequently, an international arrest warrant was issued for him.

The suspect was detained in Poland and handed over to Ukrainian authorities. He is charged with attempted drug smuggling, as well as the illegal distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on a particularly large scale — Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 305, and Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The extradition was carried out with the participation of the OGP, prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and the competent authorities of Poland.

The court has already ordered the suspect to be held in pretrial detention.
