A Sergei Osherovsky who demanded $1 million from a foreign national has been extradited from Romania

Serhiy Osherovsky has been extradited from Romania to Ukraine. He is suspected of extorting $1 million from a foreign national by threatening him with violence.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect was handed over by Romanian authorities at the request of the Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv.

According to the investigation, Osherovsky, along with two accomplices, extorted a non-existent debt of $1 million or the equivalent—15 bitcoins—from a foreign national. One of the participants in the scheme was detained back in January 2022 during the transfer of part of the funds; the others were placed on the wanted list.

Osherovsky had been on the international wanted list since October 2022. At that time, the court ordered his detention as a preventive measure.

In November 2025, the suspect was detained in Romania.

Currently, the court has again imposed a pretrial detention measure on him—detention without the right to bail.

In 2023, while on the run, Serhiy Osherovsky vacationed at the luxury French resort of Courchevel with his wife, Karina Zhosan, winner of the “Miss Ukraine Universe 2018” title.

Zhosan posted on Instagram from a party at one of the resort’s most expensive restaurants. The photos show a celebration with six bottles of Crystal champagne, estimated to cost approximately 70,000 hryvnias.

In December 2025, reports emerged that Serhiy Osherovsky had split from Karina Zhosan.

According to UA.News sources, Osherovsky is currently reportedly in a relationship and living with Valeria Gontareva—the former daughter-in-law of former NBU head Valeria Gontareva.

The couple met while vacationing in Bali, after which they allegedly began a close relationship.

Previously, Russian Sberbank’s (now MR Bank) government bonds worth 9 billion hryvnias, which had been seized by the prosecutor’s office, were held in the private depository ICU and Avangard Bank, both of which belonged to former NBU head Valeria Gontareva. Although Gontareva sold her stake in ICU in 2014, financial circles still consider this institution to be within the sphere of influence of the former head of the National Bank.
