A bail bond has been posted for Yermak
Bail payments have begun to be made on behalf of Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, as ordered by the court as a precautionary measure.
The first installments have already been deposited into special accounts, as confirmed by official representatives of the judicial branch.
According to the press service of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), as of today, 14.5 million hryvnias have been recorded in the relevant account.
These funds are only a portion of the total amount required to release the suspect from custody.
The procedure for depositing funds is clearly regulated by current Ukrainian legislation.
The bail is transferred in the national currency to a special deposit account of the HACC opened with the State Treasury Service.
Previously, the prosecution had insisted on significantly stricter financial restrictions for the defendant.
The prosecution demanded that he be placed under arrest with the possibility of release on bail in the amount of 180 million hryvnias, arguing that there was a risk of him absconding or influencing the investigation.
Yermak expressed respect for state institutions in court
Former Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak stated on the evening of May 11, after receiving a notice of suspicion from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, that he would not comment on the matter during the investigation.
The European Commission commented on the Yermak case.
The lawyer for former Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak stated that NABU detectives conducted three searches of his apartment. According to the defense, the investigators allegedly knew the layout of the home in great detail and paid attention even to minor changes. The seizure of personal belongings was also reported.
During the court hearing on the selection of a preventive measure for Andriy Yermak, his lawyer questioned the investigation’s claim that the then-head of the Presidential Office could have been involved in a money laundering scheme.
