Poroshenko's defense team will appeal the Supreme Court's refusal to lift the NSDC sanctions
The defense team for Ukraine’s fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, will appeal the decision of the Administrative Court of Cassation within the Supreme Court, which denied the motion to overturn the sanctions imposed against him by the National Security and Defense Council.
According to Poroshenko’s attorney, Ilya Novikov, once the full text of the decision is received, the defense will file an appeal with the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.
“Basic respect for the court requires that we review the full text of the ruling before we can say whether it will be appealed to the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court. This is not the case. Even now, when we have not yet heard a single word explaining why the court issued this particular ruling dismissing the lawsuit, I can say that this ruling will be appealed. There is no doubt whatsoever that it is unlawful,” Novikov stated.
He also claims that during the year-and-a-half-long trial, the defense uncovered what it believes to be a series of forged documents that served as the basis for imposing sanctions against Poroshenko.
Poroshenko’s attorney, Ilya Novikov, told reporters about this after the court’s decision was announced, according to Ukrinform.
As a reminder, the Administrative Court of Cassation within the Supreme Court postponed the hearing of the lawsuit filed by Ukraine’s fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, until April 3.
Poroshenko claimed $172 million in damages due to Russian attacks.
