Crimea's Deputy Prosecutor General Recognized His Wife's Russian Citizenship
Deputy Prosecutor General Maksym Krym stated that his wife, Hanna, was a victim of forced passport issuance while living in occupied Sevastopol in 2014. According to the official, this circumstance does not affect his professional activities or the performance of his official duties.
In 2015, she managed to leave the occupied peninsula for territory controlled by Ukraine, after which she appealed to Russian diplomatic missions to renounce the imposed document. Written confirmation of the submission of these requests has been preserved, and Ukraine does not legally recognize the forced acquisition of Russian citizenship under conditions of occupation.
The official emphasized that there is no conflict of interest in his work, noting: “A significant part of my professional work has been related to investigating and prosecuting Russian war crimes and crimes against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security in court.”
The Deputy Prosecutor General made these remarks in a comment to the publication “Ukrainska Pravda.”
On September 15, it became known that following the removal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko from office, his deputy, Maksym Krym, is currently performing the relevant “administrative functions” at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
