An official of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who demanded a bribe from a supplier of camouflage gear has been detained

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police and in coordination with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, caught the head of one of the departments of a military research institution of the Armed Forces of Ukraine accepting a bribe. The official demanded 10,000 euros from a company supplying camouflage gear in exchange for not revoking the approval of an expert opinion on product quality, which was required for participation in a tender.

To conceal the crime, the organizer suggested that the business owners leave the money in a post office box in Chernihiv. Law enforcement officers documented the official’s actions and caught him “red-handed” immediately after he received the illegal benefit, seizing the cash and documentation.

The suspect was notified of the charges against him under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention with the right to post bail was imposed. The investigation is ongoing.
