Zelenskyy and Raytheon Discussed Joint Production of Missiles for the Patriot System

Ukraine and the United States are already discussing the joint production of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense missile systems.

On July 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a team from Raytheon led by Vice President Joseph Deantona.

“Raytheon is a very strong defense company, and Ukraine has long been using its equipment to protect our people from brutal Russian attacks,” he noted in his address.

The president expressed gratitude for the company’s willingness to take its partnership with Ukraine to an even higher level.

As a reminder, on July 22, Zelenskyy met with U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and Lieutenant General Curtis Bazzard, commander of NATO’s Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training in Ukraine. During the meeting, they primarily discussed increasing the supply of interceptors for the Patriot system under the PURL program.

The American defense contractor Lockheed Martin announced the development of a new, more affordable interceptor for the Patriot air defense systems. In this way, the U.S. military is seeking cheaper ways to counter drones and missiles.

Ukraine may begin producing Patriot missiles: the history of the world’s most famous air defense system.
