Zelenskyy identified the key objective of the peace talks in the U.S.

On March 22, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the ongoing negotiations between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Florida. According to the head of state, the main goal of the diplomatic process at this time is to determine Moscow’s genuine willingness to end its aggression. 

Zelenskyy emphasized that efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine are important for the entire world, especially given the escalating situation surrounding Iran, which is creating additional geopolitical tensions.

The meeting in Florida was a continuation of the negotiation track, where the American side is represented by Donald Trump’s special envoys, and the Ukrainian side by the leadership of the National Security and Defense Council and the Office of the President. Zelenskyy stressed that no one wants this war to continue, but diplomatic efforts must lead to concrete results, not just declarations. Against the backdrop of reports on the destruction of Iran’s military capabilities and new Russian offensive operations in Donetsk Oblast, the issue of a genuine peaceful settlement has become critical for international security.

Late on the evening of March 21, the American and Ukrainian sides reported on the results of the first day of negotiations in Florida.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian delegation had already met with U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and that negotiations would continue on Sunday, March 22.
