Zelenskyy confirmed Umerov's appointment as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, will head Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service. The head of state made this announcement on August 3 during a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors in Kyiv.
According to the president, in his new position, Umerov will coordinate not only matters related to the drone coalition and cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, but also other important issues.
Zelenskyy explained that the decision to appoint Umerov is intended to expand his capabilities in the fields of diplomacy, defense, and international negotiations.
“And so that he has more opportunities to address precisely these issues simultaneously—diplomacy, defense, and the negotiation process with the United States and other designated partners, as well as negotiations to end the war— Umerov will be appointed head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service,” the president stated.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a list of issues falling under the purview of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. The government published the corresponding Resolution No. 984 dated July 29.
The Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine appointed Serhiy Fedorenko as interim acting chairman of the company’s board. The decision was adopted on July 17 following the expiration of the term of the previous chairman, Oleksiy Koretskyi.
