A priest was detained in Vinnytsia for aiding and abetting evasion of mobilization
SBU officers detained a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church while he was receiving 14,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, in April, the priest offered to help a 26-year-old acquaintance subject to military service avoid mobilization through officials at the Vinnytsia Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Military Commissariat.
In July, while the man was undergoing a medical examination, the suspect claimed the matter had been successfully resolved and demanded payment. The priest’s actions have been classified under Part 1 of Article 114-1 and Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention with the possibility of bail.

The SBU exposed hackers who created a fake “Reserve+” app to evade mobilization.
A pretrial investigation is currently underway to identify all participants in the criminal scheme and bring them to justice. The suspects face up to eight years in prison, according to the SBU.
As a reminder, the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), and the National Police have uncovered 11 more schemes to evade mobilization in various regions of Ukraine.
