Zelenskyy Appoints Head of the Southern Ukraine MBA

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established the Southern Ukrainian City Military Administration in the Mykolaiv region and appointed Ivan Kukhta as its head. The decision was formalized by a decree and is accompanied by personnel changes within the region’s military administration system.

A new city-level military administration has been established in Ukraine—President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree creating the Southern Ukrainian City Military Administration in the Voznesensk District of Mykolaiv Oblast and simultaneously appointed its head. Ivan Kukhta, who had previously worked within the region’s military administration system, was appointed head of the newly created structure. Prior to this, the president had relieved him of his position as head of the Snigurivka City Military Administration in the Bashtanka District, a move that was effectively part of a local personnel reshuffle.

The document also states that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration must ensure all organizational steps necessary for the launch of the new structure and its full-scale operation. This marks the next stage in the restructuring of the local military command system, whereby, under martial law, some communities come under the direct administration of military administrations responsible for security, management, and coordination of critical processes in the region. This is stated in Presidential Decree No. 573.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia will certainly face a response for the massive combined strike on Kyiv that the occupiers launched on the night of July 2.
