Zelenskyy appoints Kovalskyi acting prosecutor general — Anadolu Agency
In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Anton Kovalskyi, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office, as acting prosecutor general by decree. The appointment came after parliament approved the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko on September 15, Anadolu Agency reports.
Kravchenko's resignation
Ruslan Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7 amid an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau into alleged corruption among officials of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
On September 5, the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office stated that they had exposed an alleged criminal organization which, according to them, was headed by the chief of one of the departments of the Office of the Prosecutor General. Its members are suspected of receiving bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundering money.

Statements by the parties
Kravchenko denied wrongdoing and accused NABU Director Semen Kryvonos of forging documents. He also stated that he had signed a second notice of suspicion against a person close to the head of the SAPO, Oleksandr Klymenko.
According to Kravchenko, this person may have influenced judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court, offered them improper benefits and helped certain people avoid mobilization. The NABU and SAPO denied these claims, stating that Kryvonos had not been served with a notice of suspicion, and called Kravchenko's statements an attack on the independence of anti-corruption bodies.
