Zelenskyy held talks with the President of Chile: what was agreed upon

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first telephone conversation with Chile’s newly elected President José Antonio Casto-Rist. The head of state congratulated his counterpart on taking office and thanked him for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, as well as for Chile’s accession to the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. 

Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, noting that he counts on Chile’s participation in a thematic summit in May.

The main topics of the dialogue were the deepening of economic cooperation in the metallurgical industry, agriculture, and mineral exploration. Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to conclude a 10-year security agreement with Chile, similar to the agreements already signed with countries in the Middle East. While Ukraine is expanding its circle of allies in Latin America and engaging partners in humanitarian missions, Russia is facing further diplomatic isolation on the continent due to its aggressive foreign policy. The parties agreed on next steps at the working-level to implement joint projects.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine plans to hold a meeting this week in the format of an energy “Ramstein.” According to him, it is necessary to accelerate the mobilization of funding for reconstruction efforts.
