Zelensky spoke about his relationship with Trump
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he has developed a "working relationship" with former U.S. President Donald Trump, as both are committed to ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy made these remarks in an interview with Le Monde.
“President Trump and I have a working relationship. We want this war to end. Everyone knows that he wants to put an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine. We want that too,” the head of state noted.
The head of state also called on Washington to exert greater pressure on Moscow.
“Regarding the situation on the front lines, we would like the United States to exert greater pressure on Russia, to be frank. I believe this pressure is insufficient. Not only from the United States, but also from Europe, although Moscow, unfortunately, does not really care about Europe today,” he added.
Zelenskyy emphasized that any attempts to lift sanctions against Russia do not contribute to putting pressure on Moscow.
As a reminder, Donald Trump has previously repeatedly criticized the futility of Ukraine’s negotiations with Russia and expressed dissatisfaction with Zelenskyy’s position on ending the war.
Prior to this, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that lifting sanctions against Russia could provide the Kremlin with additional resources. According to him, these funds could be used to hire military personnel and supply Russia with drones, which would strengthen its military capabilities.
