Zelenskyy hopes to develop an anti-ballistic missile system in collaboration with the UK
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of joint efforts with the United Kingdom to create a European anti-ballistic missile system designed to protect the continent from airborne threats.
In addition to global issues of air and missile defense, the country’s leader raised the critically important topic of reforming the Ukrainian military and ensuring financial stability for service members.
The prospects for creating a defense shield were discussed during recent high-level international consultations.
The countries of the European Trio—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom—are ready to actively contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The President expressed confidence that such integration of technologies and efforts will benefit all project participants and strengthen the security architecture throughout the region.
“The E3 countries will help us with anti-ballistic defense. By the way, I hope we will be able to develop a European anti-ballistic system together with the United Kingdom. We are working on this. We need it, and the United Kingdom needs it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
During these talks, European partners also demonstrated full solidarity regarding the intensification of economic pressure on the aggressor country.
Official Kyiv continues to insist on the introduction of new restrictions that will block financial flows used to fund military operations.
“Yesterday at the E3 meeting, everyone agreed that we need to strengthen sanctions against Russia,” the President recalled.
The head of state spoke about this in a detailed interview with The Guardian.
