Zelenskyy Responds to Threat from Iran — Sky News
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv has no reason to trust the Iranian regime due to its support for Russia in the war against Ukraine. According to him, Tehran is effectively involved in the aggression, as it supplies Russia with “Shahed” attack drones and the technology to manufacture them.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made these remarks in an interview with Sky News.
Zelenskyy was asked whether there is a risk of a direct Iranian attack on Ukraine given Tehran’s threats. The president replied that, in fact, the attack has already taken place, albeit in a different form.
“If, from the very first year of the war, Iran provided Russia with a new base and new technology—the ‘Shahed’ drones—delivered thousands of these drones in the first year, and then also transferred production licenses—isn’t that an attack on us? I think so,” he said.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is trying not to open a new front and is acting cautiously, but there is no point in hiding the obvious.
“The Iranians and North Koreans have already attacked us,” the president stated.
He recalled that both countries supplied the Kremlin with drones, missiles, and 155-mm artillery shells throughout the Russian invasion without any warnings or provocations from Kyiv. Zelenskyy also mentioned the 10,000 North Korean soldiers involved in the war.
“We cannot trust these people,” Zelenskyy concluded.
According to him, Ukraine must be prepared now for a possible escalation of these threats.
