Zelenskyy said that the agreement with the U.S. on drone production is nearly finalized
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv and Washington are close to concluding a large-scale agreement on the joint production of drones. As part of the agreement, Ukraine plans to establish a large drone manufacturing plant in the United States.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has already shared with the United States its experience in using various types of drones—including maritime, aerial, long-range, and other systems.
“We want to conclude the largest drone deal, especially with the U.S. They have already received this expertise from us,” the president noted.
He added that Ukraine’s experience is helping American partners develop their own technologies more quickly. According to Zelenskyy, U.S. officials estimated that without Ukraine’s experience, it would have taken Washington 10–20 years to reach this level of expertise in the field of drones.
The president also announced that a document outlining the next phase of cooperation between the two countries is nearly complete.
“I want to take the second step as soon as possible with President Trump. I know the document is almost ready. And, as I’ve already said, distance is a secondary issue; technology will be the most important factor. That’s what we have, and America has excellent technology. So, our agreement on drones is a win-win for both sides,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, Ukraine is interested in establishing production lines in the United States, since drones change rapidly in wartime and cannot simply be stored in warehouses.
“We want to set up production lines because drones can’t just sit in warehouses. They’re not artillery; they’re not missiles. You know, drones are replaced every six months on the battlefield, sometimes every three months,” the head of state explained. He added that this is precisely why production and technology must be constantly updated.

As a reminder, Ukraine plans to receive drones capable of traveling 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers as early as next year. At the same time, Kyiv is preparing a large-scale agreement with the United States on the joint production of drones.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that next week he plans to appoint Ihor Klymenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, while Rustem Umerov will focus on working with international partners in the field of security.
