A man opened fire in Uzhhorod; police detained him during a special operation
In Uzhhorod, law enforcement officers detained an armed man who opened fire in the area of Shakhtinsky Forest. A special police operation involving members of the KORD special forces unit was carried out to locate and apprehend him.
According to law enforcement, at around 6:30 p.m., several children contacted the police, reporting that they had heard gunshots coming from the direction of Shakhtinsky Forest and had seen a suspicious man there. Police officers quickly arrived at the scene, and while searching the area, they heard gunshots again.
According to preliminary information, one of the bullets may have struck an abandoned building, causing a fire that spread to the forest.
To apprehend the armed man, law enforcement launched a special operation, bringing in additional police forces and KORD special forces. The police later announced that the operation had been completed. The man was detained, and a service pistol was seized from him.
Investigative activities are currently underway at the scene. Law enforcement is determining the circumstances of the incident.
